A Celtic cross on an octagonal base backed by a low sandstone wall, originally with three tablets built in. The side tablets have carved names of those who fought in the Second World War, and in the centre is now a metal plaque with the First World War names. On the front face of the cross there is a wreath and a sword. There are inscriptions carved into the sides of the plinth. It was replaced as the cenotaph in 2005; a newer memorial now stands at the Civic Square.
