An 11th century king rebukes a white habited tonsured monk while attendants wrest a pastoral staff from him, with other monks, a soldier, a scribe etc. (If the white habit denotes a Cistertian, the scene may be King Stephen's refusal to convey the temporalities of York to Henry Murdoc, ex-abbot of Fountains and Archbishop elect in 1148).
