One of 1,000 marker posts for the National Cycle Network commissioned by Sustrans for the millennium. There are four designs – this is an example of the first one, 'The Fossil Tree', which takes the form of an abstract tree with relief imagery of fossils depicting the passage of time from early primitive creatures to the ultimate demise of fossil fuel driven technology. The sculpture is painted black with details picked out in white.
