An Elephant (Male, Indian) with iron bar attached to his tusks is waiting with his keeper at a tollgate in the centre of the painting. The keeper of the tollgate is to the right, outside his cottage, and accompanied by his dog. He is dressed in a country smock and is in conversation with the animal keeper.
