The accompanying text in German reads, 'Die Wolken zieh'n gewitter schwer, im Abenddunkel zieht das Heer. Gen welchen Feind ist es gesandt? - S zieht gen sein eig'nes Vaterland, und gen sein eignes Hab und Gut, und gen sein eignes Fleisch und Blut, und mit dem Banēr stolz voran dem Heere geht der Sensenmann. Sobald die nächste Sonne scheint, kämpft wohl der Freund schon mit dem Freund, der Bruder mit dem Bruder schon und mit dem Vater kaempft der Sohn'.
