A dedicated pavement set with the names, quotations, ‘one-liners’, jokes, songs and catchphrases of various comedians and writers. The words are all in different sizes, set in different orientations, in black, red and blue, all with a cream background and framed in steel. There are over 160,000 individually cut letters forming the names and work of 850 of 'the best comedians and writers of British comedy'. This work was inspired by the original posters advertising public events at Blackpool and by a desire to commemorate the huge number of stars and celebrities who have performed at the resort. The names are supported by a remarkable sequence of quotations, familiar and less familiar, with which the personalities are associated. These include: 'Just Like That' from Tommy Cooper, 'Bring Me Sunshine' from Morecambe and Wise, 'How Tickled I am' from Ken Dodd, 'Hello Possums' from Barry Humphries, 'This is an ex-Parrot' from Monty Python, 'Hello My Darlings' from Charlie Drake and 'If it was nae for your wellies' from Billy Connolly.
