Gore, Ginner and Bevan enjoyed visiting Harold Harrison, who kept a farm at Clayhidon, Devonshire. During the First World War, the Harrisons were unable to offer hospitality and between 1916 and 1919, Bevan rented a nearby cottage called Lytchetts, at Clayhidon. Here, he painted a number of landscapes.
