Each brick represents an artist or band who has/have played at the original Cavern Club between 1957 and 1973. It was commissioned for the 40th anniversary of the Cavern Club in January 1997. The statue represents John Lennon. The wall of discs is a tribute to those Liverpool artists who have had a number one hit.

plaque: The Cavern Wall of Fame / The “Wall of Fame” was unveiled by Gerry Marsden / on the 16th January 1997, to celebrate the 40th anniversary / of the opening of the Cavern Club. / The wall highlights the names of al the bands who appeared / at the club between 1957 – 1973. / Also included are some of the contemporary bands who / performed in the 90’s (Oasis, Dodgy). / The Cavern Club situated on the opposite side of the road, occupies fifty percent of the original site and proudly retains / its original address of 10 MATTHEW STREET. / The Wall of Fame was conceived and financed by / Cavern City Tours / with support from The Beneficial Bank. / Research by Phil & Peter Thompson.; plaque: TWO PERFORMERS WHO PLAYED / THE CAVERN CLUB / BETWEEN 1957 - 1973 / HAVE HAD THEIR BRICKS REMOVED / GARY GLITTER / JONATHAN KING; black plaque: WALL OF FAME / Don't be conned by the bar above with the same name, which has never had any / association with this wall. The Wall of fame was erected by Cavern City Tours / (the owners of The Cavern Club and Cavern Pub) on 15th January 1997. The Wall / was unveiled by Gerry Marsden and Bill J. Kramers to commemorate the 40th / Anniversary of the opening of The Cavern Club. The Wall of Fame bricks celebrate / all of the 1,801 bands that have performed since the club was re-opened in April 1984. / This Wall is protected by CCTV
