Set on raised circular steps, a sculpture of an open slate book with marble binding. It is large with carved letters inside representing the words on a page and carved letters also at foot of sculpture inside pages. It is intended to have water flowing down sculpture to give the impression that the letters on the ground have been washed off by the water. Abstract designs are carved on two outer covers of book.

The work was privately commissioned by the developers of the site which includes offices, retail units and flats. It was decided to erect a sculpture in the shape of a book because Aberystwyth houses the National Library, the Welsh Books Council and the University of Wales. Funded by the developers and by Ceredigion County Council, the sculpture is intended to depict the history of storytelling from word of mouth to the printed page.
