The theatre shown was not resolved by Art UK Art Detective discussion in 2021, but the stage setting was found to have a strong resemblance to the ball scene designed by Jean-Denis Maclès for Frederic Ashton’s production of ‘Cinderella’ at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, which opened on 23rd December 1948.
