A scene depicting the Adoration of the Magi showing a procession of figures coming to worship the Christ child. The Virgin is seated before a stable on the right, seen in three-quarter frontal view, facing the left. She holds on her knee the Child who blesses the oldest of the Magi as he kneels and kisses his right foot. The haloed figure of Joseph stands behind the first of the Magi, carrying a staff. Next in line are the other two Magi holding their gifts. Standing on the left of the composition are a group of attendants, one of whom holds a white horse that gazes out directly at the viewer, and in the foreground is a young boy playing with a dog resembling a whippet. In the centre background is a mountainous landscape scene and in the left background, beyond trees and upon a slight rise, is a castle.
