An elegant woman beneath her parasol, her face intriguingly turned away from the viewer, dominates Naomi Alexander’s classic evocation of English ritual: teatime at Wimbledon. The luscious palette of pink, orange and turquoise combines with cooler whites to conjure up the atmosphere of an ideal English Summer’s day. Naomi Alexander studied painting, printmaking and textile design at Hornsey College of Art, and then as a post-graduate at the Central School. She is also a trained picture conservator, skilled in the techniques of the Old Masters. Her commissions include work for the House of Commons, the late Duke of Devonshire and the Sultan of Oman. In 2002 Alexander was appointed Artist-in-Residence at the Europas Parkas Museum in Vilnius.
