Three women in billowing crinolines sit on clouds at the top of the image. Below them to the left, a woman dressed in a Greek-style garment and pointy tiara stands opposite a man. She sews the collar of his shirt, and he holds his cravat in his hand. In front of them, a cupid balances on an oversized thread that is suspended between an equally oversized needle and inkstand. Two cupids play with the quills that stick in the inkstand. To the right, the man with his back to the viewer kneels in front of the woman. She holds what might be a large spoon and shovel in her hands, and he is surrounded by household equipment such as pots and pans and crockery.
