Bronze swifts emerge from an olive tree planted in the Cloister Garden of the Priory Church of the Order of Saint John. This sculpture is related to the sculpture 'Tree of Hope', also by Mark Coreth, in the Muristan Clinic Garden, an ophthalmic clinic run by the Saint John Eye Hospital Group. Symbolic of hope and life, 'Tree of Hope' is a bronze olive tree with a canopy of swifts in flight. Coreth devised this artwork to represent the complex history, and resilience and dynamism of Jerusalem and its people. The sentiment of the 'Tree of Life' is represented at Order locations around the world through the placement of related sculptures such as this.
