An ornately dressed girl in pink is seated in heavy wooden chair in a dark interior before a large mullioned window, embroidering a piece of fabric held taut in a rectangular frame. There are more chairs against the back wall, a sewing basket at her feet, and a view obstructed by cushions on the right, in the extreme foreground. The work was exhibited at the New Gallery, London in 1904.
