A relatively dark watercolour of a Manx landscape scene with a line of fences partially obscured by several trees. Unlike most of his watercolour sketches which are untitled and unsigned of the Manx landscape, Knox did date this painting as 1903 and it has been identified as being a view of the Sulby area. For most of his working life, Knox worked both as an art teacher and as a designer, but from c.1900–1904 he lived in a cottage in Sulby on the Isle of Man and produced many of his world-famous metalwork designs for Liberty & Co. of London, for which he is most well-known.
