Writer Suzannah Dunn led a writing workshop with local children. The resulting text was formulated into a poem that was carved on the three upright stones.

metal plaque: STANDING STONES / The words on the stones ahead of you arose out of a / public art project carried out in 1997. / Writer Suzannah Dunn worked with local children at / Artwise Youth Club, Ramsgate and other venues to / explore ideas and thoughts about Margate, / people and feelings in words, stories and poetry. / From all the words written down and spoken by the children / Suzannah has drawn together a poem, / which has been carved into stone by sculptor Paul Wehrle.
