Possibly cut down from the wing of an altarpiece. The influence of Jan Gossaert (to whom it was once attributed) is evident in the facial type, architectural setting and rich, jewelled clothing but it is not of sufficient quality to be by Gossaert himself and must have been painted in the early sixteenth century by one of Gossaert's Antwerp followers.
