The top of a spire, removed in 1910 from the spire on the west tower of the Church of St John the Baptist, Northgate Street, now Church of St John Northgate, which was rebuilt in the former church graveyard, now St Lucy's Garden. It is an octagonal, tapering, upper portion of spire, with a roll moulding on each angle. This is all that is left of the medieval fabric of the church which had become dilapidated and was demolished in 1732. The new, classically styled church, opened in 1734, incorporated the original tower and spire. The spire is three metres shorter than its original height.
