This shows a major of a highland regiment (possibly Highland Light Infantry) and a Scottish soldier, with infantrymen in service dress caps and greatcoats.

A painting of this title was exhibited at the Royal Academy by the artist in 1915, No. 490. However, this painting bears no Academy label which might confirm this supposition.
