Along with Victor Pasmore and William Coldstream, Rogers was a founding member of the Euston Road School in 1937. The School aimed to inject new realism and craftsmanship into painting. Unlike Pasmore, who later converted to abstract painting, Rogers's style remained figurative as in this atmospheric winter scene.
