Sydney George Everett was born on 21st July 1860, the eldest son of George Allen Everitt Esq. FRGS, JP, of Knowle Hall, Warwickshire, who was Consul in Birmingham for Belgium and Hanover and a Knight ofthe Orders of Leopold and Hanover, by his second wife Elizabeth, daughter of Cuthbert Burnup of Newcastle-on-Tyne.
