A memorial drinking fountain consisting of a cylindrical two-tiered pedestal surmounted by high gabled coping and capped by a drum and canopy. Standing on a square base with a drinking bowl at its foot, the badly weathered fountain is no longer functioning. Its west face bears the remains of a shield and three daggers in relief. Prior to the erection of the pant in 1865 the village had no piped water supply and many villagers had to walk a considerable distance to draw water. Lady Augusta's gift to the parish thus served a double function: providing both a useful amenity and a public memorial to her sister and brother-in-law. Henry Vane (1788–1864), the 2nd Viscount and Duke of Cleveland married Lady Sophia Poulett in 1809. Residing at the nearby Raby Castle with the Duchess's sister, Lady Augusta Mary Poulett, the family are said to have been generous benefactors to the local village.
