Badly damaged, these three Medieval fragments may represent the remains of an ornate medieval shrine that was deliberately defaced during the Scottish Reformation. They form part of a series of quatrefoils, or of trefoiled arches, containing five figures carved in low relief. Three are grouped in what appears to represents a hunting scene with a hawk. The right-hand figure, apparently in a kneeling pose, is badly damaged, with a small circular hole in its side, possibly intended for iron-work. A small piece of iron-work does in fact project from the hand of the figure holding the hawk, and if the stone does come from a shrine, and the iron-work is original, it could have been intended for hanging votive offerings. The fragments of two further figures are set apart from this group.
