Painter, draughtsman and teacher, born in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. He studied at Leicester Polytechnic, 1972–3; Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham, 1973–6; and Birmingham Polytechnic, 1976–7; then worked in a timber yard in St Neots.
