Painter and etcher who studied at Glasgow School of Art, the Royal Academy Schools and at Académie Julian, Paris. He became known for his paintings of the sea and fishing life, with Pittenweem, Fife, a favourite location, although he maintained a studio in Glasgow, where he was a member of the Art Club, president of the Society of Etchers and showed prolifically with the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts.
