This work was installed across the northern (seaward) end of the MUSA roof terrace to evoke the creation of rough boats, or coracles, which were used for centuries in Scottish coastal waters. They also stir thoughts of journeys, navigation and exploration, and of the creativity and aspiration involved in crafting a vision and embarking on an odyssey. The circular bronze tablets around the base of the telescope highlight local landmarks around St Andrews Bay, and more distant prospects, including east-coast fishing banks. The measurements refer to the circular tablet, the oars, and the boat-building tools respectively.
