A long sampler made up of joined sections of various types of fabric each section worked with a different technique of hand embroidery or plain sewing including embroidered lettering, cutwork, patches, tucks, applique, knitting and darning. The sections are joined with various insertions of tatting, crochet and braids backed and edged with pink glazed cotton. The label on the back of the object reads 'the work of a school girl aged 12–14 years in an Ursuline Convent on the river Muese in West Belgium.
