Bible, New Testament, Acts of the Apostles, III, 1–10. Apparently a cabinet reduction on copper of an altarpiece in Saint Peter's, Rome. Cigoli "first went to Rome to begin 'St Peter healing the cripple for St Peter's, a prestigious commission obtained through the offices of the Grand Duke" (Grove Dictionary of Art). The arched upper part of Cigoli's composition, showing cherubim interceding before Christ, is omitted in this rectangular version. Another version on copper was offered for sale by Sotheby's London, 30 October 2008, lot 212, catalogued as from the eighteenth century.
