This delicate little bronze statuette of St. Cecilia, the patron saint of music, is one of six statuettes representing saints originally designed by Kelly at the end of 1948 for the Irish Catholic Stage Guild's inaugural awards' ceremony in 1949. They were to become an 'Irish Oscars' for those in the film, broadcast and performance arts. The statuettes were cast by Paddy Little at J. and C. McGloughlin, art metal workers of Dublin, in November 1949.
