Equestrian statue of a Royal Scots Greys trooper who is depicted in the full uniform of the regiment when it embarked for South Africa in 1899. The statue is mounted on a sandstone pedestal carved in the form of a tall outcrop of natural rock. A bronze plaque dedicating the memorial is cradled in an ashlar buttressed panel at the centre of the plinth.
