On a plinth, a young bugler in battle dress, capless, about to sound the Last Post, upon a rough-hewn and inscribed rock, on a corniced and inscribed square plan pedestal and a square base.

The bronze bugler was created by Irish sculptor Kathleen Trousdell Shaw, and the base and pedestal were carved by stonemasons Purdy & Millard of Belfast.
