Inscription description
on a bronze band around the screen at the back of the central feature: ERECTED BY THE OFFICERS AND MEN OF THE ROYAL ARTILLERY IN MEMORY OF THEIR HONOURED DEAD SOUTH AFRICA 1899–1902; on the ornamental belt around the pedestal supporting the central group: QUO FAS ET UBIQUE GLORIA DUCUNT; above the reliefs on the end piers are wreaths, that on the left containing the letter E, that on the right, the letter R; on the sides of these piers are bronze plaques with lists of the dead
