For 30 years the statue stood in the market square before being moved firstly to Greenham House then in 1966 to its current location in Victoria Park. The queen is surrounded by four individual stone lions, reunited in 2001 after two of the four lions had been gifted to Beale Park (1966). The statue of the queen in later years shows her in robes holding an orb and sceptre.
