Professor Adrian Brown was born in Burton-upon-Trent and from 1899 to 1919 was a Professor of Brewing in the University of Birmingham's School of Brewing and Malting. He served on the National Products Committee of the Royal Society during the war and held his post at the University of Birmingham until his death.
Bernard Munns was a Birmingham-born artist who, although he exhibited most of his work in London and Paris, spent a large amount of time painting in Birmingham.
