The patient says: ‘Oh dear doctor that alternative you sent me has almost killed me.’ The doctor replies: ‘Very good! Very good! That is what I intended, I see the medicine has had its effect. If you continue to follow my prescription you will be perfectly free from all complaints in a few days.’ A bottle labelled ‘vitriolic acid’ is on the table next to the patient.
