Sacred / to the / Memory of / Thomas Frewen, Esqre / of Cold Overton Hall, / Leicestershire, / Innishannon, County Cork, / and Brickwall House, / in this Parish; / eldest son of / John and Eleanor Frewen Turner, / born at Cold Overton Hall, August 26th 1811. / Educated at St. John's College, Cambridge, / a Magistrate for Rutland and Leicestershire, / M.P. for South Leicestershire in 1838, / High Sheriff for Sussex in 1839. / He married first in 1832 Anne, daughter of / W.W. Carus Wilson, Esqre / of Casterton Hall, Westmoreland, / secondly in 1847 Helen Louisa, daughter of / Frederick Homan, Esqre / of Ardenwood, County Kildare. / He died at Woodlands, Ore, near Hastings, Octr 14th 1870, / leaving three surviving children by his first / and five by his second marriage. / His mortal remains lie in the Vault beneath this Aisle / awaiting the joyful resurrection. / “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them / also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him." I Thes: IV. 14. / His express desire forbids all mention of personal character / on this Tablet, and directs the following alone to be inscribed. / “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, / that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; / of whom I am chief."
