This front of this box-constructed crescent pendant is set with a cloisonné enamelled plaque. The palette includes opaque white, red and blue, along with translucent green. The enamel is partly decomposed, exposing the sheet walls of the cloisons in some areas. Around the plaque is a border of large grains. On the back is an elaborate s-scroll in rope-and-grain openwork filigree dotted with larger grains The side wall, of plain gold strip, bears granulated loops, and the loop for hanging the pendant is mounted on an elaborate double scroll-motif in applied, paired rope with granulation. The pendant was formerly in the Sinadino Collection, formed in Egypt, and it may well have originated there.
