A tapering plinth set on a four-stepped base surmounted by the figure of an armoured crusader on a charger flanked by four figures of infantrymen trudging through mud. The crusader has a shield and pennant bearing the cross of Saint Andrew. The arms of the burgh are set on a sword in relief on the front face of the plinth. The sword is flanked by shields in relief bearing the cross of Saint Andrew on the right and the cross of Saint George on the left. There is a dedicatory inscription incised into the base below the shields and sword. Two plaques with raised inscriptions of battlefield locations are set into the right and left faces. Each plaque bears palm branches and a crown in relief at the top centre. There are shields in relief on the rear face of plinth.
