At centre of image sits a woman in an armchair. She has light-coloured hair in a plait which is wrapped around the crown of her head. She wears round spectacles, a black dress with a white collar, and a black band around her neck. There is a ring with an oval stone on the little finger of her right hand. In front of her is a dome-shaped object of lace on a stand with black legs. Her hands are poised above the lace. In her left hand she holds an object consisting of two short, thin struts. She holds a similar object in her right hand, and the ends of the struts are touching the lace.
