This profile of Napoleon III, President of the French Republic from 1848 to 1852 and Emperor of France from 1852 to 1870, is one of a pair of low-relief marble medallions. The other shows Empress Eugénie de Montijo, his wife (see object number L10). Both works are believed to be copies after an artist called Wolff, about whom little is known.
