The lamp is of unusually complex construction. At the base, in a shallow bowl, are four pinched oil lamps, of a type widespread in Islamic cultures. These surround a three-tiered candelabrum of lamps with multiple spouts, diminishing progressively in size and surmounted by crenellated decoration resembling stylised human figures linking their arms. The top lamp is an openwork finial surmounted by two small birds.
