There is a three-step base to each elevation, a two-leaf studded and panelled timber door, a recessed architrave at the basement, with an inscribed panel above. There are curved abutments flanking the basement wall terminated by plinths supporting recumbent lions – the lion to the left is awake, while the lion to the right is asleep. The Douglas coat of arms is set into the north pediment. There is also a cross-finialled dome pierced with glazed stars and the interior is an ashlar-lined chamber with stone coffin flanked by angels.
