The memorial garden has five stone plaques with low reliefs and inscriptions representing different eras of Sir Bobby’s life. From left to right: pit wheel, miner's lamp, tools, football and boots denote his mining background; a list of clubs he played for; a low-relief side portrait of Bobby the manager; his achievements as the England manager with a lion in the background; the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, which he established in 2008. The garden is situated close to St James Park, home to Newcastle United Football Club. Robson managed Newcastle United from September 1999 to August 2004.
