Trenchard is represented bareheaded, wearing the uniform of a Marshall of the RAF, his service greatcoat open at the front and appearing to be blown back. His left hand holds the hilt of his sword. The pedestal is of a simple classical design, slightly tapering upwards. Bronze plaques with the badges of the West African Frontier Force, the Royal Scots Fusiliers, the Royal Air Force, and the Metropolitan Police are set into the upper surface of the granite base.
