Marie Antoinette was the wife of King Louis XVI of France. His portrait is shown on her pendant. Her clothing is decorated with the fleur-de-lis which is a symbol of French royalty. The original sculpture on which this bust was based was made by Felix Lecomte in 1783. The bust was once owned by her tutor, the Abbé de Vermond.
