An angel, dressed in a long flowing robe, standing with outstretched wings and the left arm raised to heaven, surmounting a dome-shaped pedestal. Two separate water troughs for animals stood in front of the pedestal. It was presented to Rochdale by Ellen MacKinnon in memory of her mother, Augusta in 1899. It was sited at the junction of the Esplanade and Manchester Road in front of one of the entrances into Broadfield Park. Over the years its condition deteriorated, and in April 1961 it was removed to Entwisle Road transport depot. It was never restored and appears to have been destroyed.
