This replica Lockheed Hudson was made by apprentices at Gen2, Workington. Its real-life counterpart was an American-built light bomber and coastal reconnaissance aircraft produced initially for the Royal Air Force shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War and primarily operated by the RAF thereafter. The airfield at Silloth was originally designed to be used by RAF Maintenance Command but was handed over to Coastal Command in November 1939.
