A rampant lion mounted on a stone plinth overlooking the park lands below. The Lion Hylands Park itself is a Grade II* Listed park and garden. The lion nicknamed locally as 'Rory' was originally on the old gates off London Road. It is made of Coade stone and was one of at least a pair. He currently sits on the site of the old well that was for the head gardener's cottage for the pleasure gardens. It is thought he was moved there when they widened the road and put the extra duel carriage way in (A414) as you can still see the old tree belt in the middle of the road.
