This piece is possibly Italian. A sculpture of Leda and the Swan depicting a female figure in classical costume holding a swan under her right arm. In Greek legend Leda was one of the many girls visited by Zeus in disguise, in her case in the form of a swan She is said to have produced twin eggs, from which Castor and Pollux were born. She was also the mother of Helen of Troy.
